Moving-in Tips
..............................................................................................................................................................
- RECORD.
List down everything. Place a number on each box and write
its contents on a small notebook. Be specific on boxes’
contents and their destination room. A detailed moving checklist
can make your move extra smooth.
- STORE.
Have at least eight extra boxes reserved for your last minute
items like clothing, bedding and cleaning materials. Make
sure that its content does not exceed 50 lbs. for easy carry.
- DE-CLUTTER.
Leave unnecessary items. Dispose items that you no longer
need. Hold a garage sale or give usable items to charity.
- WRAP.
Use unprinted newsprint to properly wrap and cushion breakable
items. This will also prevent them from getting soiled by
ink. You may also use tissue paper, Kraft paper and bubble
wraps.
- HAVE
A TOOL KIT READY. At any time, you may need to
use basic tools and hardware such as a screwdriver, hammer,
hooks, nails, and screws to set up your
new home.
- INFORM
EVERYONE. Don’t forget to inform your utility
providers that you’re moving. Advise them as soon
as possible for the service termination or transfer. It
may save you a lot to transfer their services to your new
home. Let your family, friends and office know that you’re
moving. A simple email will do. You may also enlist their
help. You may need all the help you can get.
- FAMILIARIZE.
Get to know your new neighborhood. Get
acquainted with your new neighbors, and your building personnel.
